Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Reykjavik - Arrival Day

After your arrival, transfer from the Keflavik airport to your hotel that is in the heart of the old city center of Reykjavik. In spite of its location and the city lights, the Northern Lights can often be seen from here. The hotel offers wake-up service if the Northern Lights appear.

Day 2 - Golden Circle Sightseeing - Gullfoss waterfall, Strokkur Volcano and Thingvellir

You will tour the renowned Golden Circle including a visit to Thingvellir National Park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. Then you will head to the famous Geyser hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts around every 5-10 minutes. We also visit the Gullfoss (Golden) Waterfall. You will then visit a local horse stable and a greenhouse, drive through the landscapes of South Iceland and visit the Eyjafjallajokull Visitor Center at the foot of the volcano. A short film (20 min) portrays the spectacular natural event and the testing times and challenges faced by the family farm of Thorvaldseyri. Then drive to your accommodation near the town of Vik, where you will stay for 2 nights at Hotel Katla. Based on the weather permits, you will head for a Northern Lights hunt (the guide chooses the night with better prospects). Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast

Day 3 - Glacier lagoon

You will head east, along the southern shore to the unique and beautiful Jokulsarlon Glacier lagoon, developed around 60 years ago. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during the winter, which is a lovely sight to watch. On the way back to Vik we also visit Skaftafell National Park, which is part of Vatnajokull National Park and has some of the most beautiful natural sights in Iceland. Meals: Breakfast

Day 4 - Volcanoes and waterfalls

Driving along the southern coast, you will encounter highlights such as the waterfalls of Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss as well as the glaciers and volcanos of Myrdalsjokull/Katla and Eyjafjallajokull. The final highlight before returning to Reykjavik is the spectacular Blue Lagoon. You have a choice of viewing the lagoon or enjoy soaking in the mineral-rich water with its fine silica mud (bathing admission is not included). In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Reykjavik, where you will stay at Centerhotel Plaza. Meals: Breakfast

Day 5 - Departure from Reykjavik

In case your flight is in the evening, the day is free for leisure. Transfer from the hotel in Reykjavik to the Keflavik airport for departure. Meals included: Breakfast
