Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival In Johannesburg

  • Welcome to Johannesburg. On arrival our representative will welcome you with a special meet and greet service, and give you a private transfer to your Hotel. Check in and freshen up in the comfort of your room. Rest of the day at leisure.
  • Overnight in Johannesburg.

Day 2: Half day Gold Reef city

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • This magical trip down memory lane will tell you all about how Johannesburg came into being, how gold was discovered on the reef and how the lives of men and women formed an integral part of a rich and fascinating heritage.
  • Visit Gold Reef City, named after the richness upon which the city of Johannesburg was built, and embark on historical tour, the ‘Jozi Story of Gold’. This tour includes an opportunity to pan for gold and watch a gold pour. Stroll through the theme park reflecting the life of the mining town at the turn of the last century. There is plenty to do for young and old but remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Day 3: Johannesburg - Full Day Sun City and Pilanesberg Nature Reserve Tour

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • The Tour:
  • Set out from Johannesburg into the adventurous North West province of South Africa. We travel to the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, a 572km² area home to most Southern African species including the famous Big 5, namely lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. Enjoy a closed-vehicle game drive, seeking out wildlife big and small in the Pilanesberg National Park, which is abundant in various plains game and bird life. Your guide will be eager to help you spot Africa’s Big 5 mammals and a whole lot more. This park is in fact one of the world’s outstanding geological phenomena, a picturesque crater of a long-extinct volcano and the result of eruptions some 1 200 million years ago.
  • Bordering this unique wilderness you will find the lush and beautiful entertainment complex, the famous Sun City Resort first built in 1979. Sun City is not only a very popular luxury casino, entertainment and golf resort but also a flagship structure associated with times during the Apartheid South Africa. You will be taken on an orientation tour of this glamorous oasis with its world-class bars and restaurants, Valley of the Waves and Waterworld (for guest’s own account).
  • You can then explore and enjoy all the many attractions this resort offers. Valley of the Waves and Waterworld is Sun City’s world-class water park that is perfect for all those who love water slides, fun in the sun and adrenaline-packed activities. There are family-friendly water activities for adventurers of all ages. The main attraction at Valley of Waves is the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500m² wave pool with hydraulic mechanisms generating waves almost 2 metres high every 90 seconds.

Day 4: Johannesburg - Durban

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Private transfer to the airport to board your flight to Durban. Upon arrival private transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon get ready for the Ushaka Marine World Half Day Tour
  • The Tour:
  • Explore the wonders of ocean life and a world of entertainment at the world-class uShaka Marine World, a wildly popular attraction on Durban’s Golden Mile. View exhibits of diverse marine life found in the Western Indian Ocean, in the southern hemisphere’s largest aquarium, where you get to revel in breathtaking underground viewing galleries that extend 500 metres through four wonderfully designed old ship wrecks. The displays represent sea creatures’ natural habitat while telling a story that ties in with the Phantom Ship theme, and animal descriptions and storyboards provide information in an informal way that all ages and abilities can relate to.
  • At Ushaka Sea World you’ll also find Africa’s largest dolphinarium, with terrific dolphin, seal and penguin shows – it’s a real adventure! There is an impressive Dolphin Stadium, with seating for more than 1 200 spectators. The Seal Stadium is next to the Dolphin Stadium and offers many fun-filled seal shows, as well as a Penguin rockery, which is home to over 63 African Penguins.
  • On ground level at Sea World, enjoy the beautifully landscaped gardens with many indigenous plants, while still being able to view the aquarium from the surface. Gaze into the larger exhibits from the surface while appreciating the unique bird's eye view you’ll get of the fish and sharks in the shallower exhibits. This is a virtual dive into the Indian Ocean!
  • As you walk through uShaka Marine World, experience the unique African-themed Village Walk, a premier open-air shopping mall with eateries and entertainment in one-of-a-kind, relaxed settings. The Village Walk offers one of the most unique shopping experiences and is a shopper’s paradise, with a variety of outdoor adventure stores, curio stores, surf and ethnic clothing stores, and more

Day 5: Durban - Durban Half Day City Tour

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • The Tour:
  • Our tour begins as we travel along the Golden Mile, the revitalised beachfront promenade which hugs the beckoning beaches of Durban, viewing the upgraded Point Waterfront. We travel through the city, viewing the majestic City Hall, and enjoying its humorous history!
  • We continue to the small craft harbour viewing the 8th largest harbour in the world. Drive past the sugar terminals and very busy harbour warehouses on our way to the University of Natal – Durban Campus where we view lovely sights of the harbour below. Then we visit the bustling African/Indian Markets at Warwick Triangle – home to nine distinct markets developed around Durban’s largest public transport interchange and where approximately 6 000 street vendors ply their trade, to an average of 460 000 daily commuters – an authentic experience.
  • From culture to nature, we visit the peaceful Durban Botanic Gardens founded in 1849, a treasure trove of massive trees from Asia, Africa and America, and a magnificent orchid house. We then conclude with a visit to an icon of KwaZulu-Natal, the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where you will have the option of experiencing the cable car ride (for own account) to the top of the stadium for that phenomenal view of Durban and its surroundings.

Day 6: Durban - The Valley of the 1000 Hills

  • Breakfast in the Hotel.
  • The Tour:
  • A land unlike any you've ever seen before, come enjoy a unique cultural experience in the Valley of the 1000 Hills in South Africa. On this three hour excursion into the valley, you'll realize just how expansive and remarkable both the landscape and the local people truly are.
  • After you're collected from your hotel, you'll make your way into the vast and rugged terrain of the valley. With lush rolling green hills dotted with tribal settlements, you'll gain a better understanding of rural life in Africa. As you travel along, take in the sights and sounds of daily life in Westville, Kloof, and Hillcrest, some of the many residential areas in this colourful region. While viewing the fantastic scene of your surroundings, you will come to Phezulu Cultural Village, where you'll enjoy visual explanations of traditional Zulu culture in a model of a Zulu Village.
  • Experience the vibrant life and culture of the Zulu tribe as you watch traditional dancing, singing, and drumming. Let the rhythms of the community move and inspire you. Afterwards, explore some of the local wildlife with a visit to a crocodile farm and a snake park. Finally, you'll continue to an African arts and crafts studio, where you'll get a firsthand look at the extensive handicrafts made in the surrounding areas.
  • With the stunningly picturesque backdrop of the Valley of the 1000 Hills, this tour is sure to delight you with a local cultural experience that allows you to gain insight into the lives of the South African natives.

Day 7: Durban – Cape Town

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Private transfer to the airport to board your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival private transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Cape Town - Full Day Robben Island and City tour

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • The Tour:
  • The tour commences with a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island. (Weather permitting). Robben Island is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa and of the price paid for freedom. The excursion includes a return ferry to the island, a bus tour on the island and of the prison. In the city itself enjoy a drive through Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the culture, food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people.
  • Continue to Table Mountain where you shall reach the top by cable car (weather permitting; cable car fee not included). Enjoy the panoramic views over the city with Robben Island lying sleepily in Table Bay. Also get a bird’s eye view over the Atlantic Seaboard. Return to the city bowl area to the Company Gardens. Enjoy a walk through the garden and a visit to the SA Museum. This is followed by a visit to the Castle of Good Hope. Built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a maritime replenishment station, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa.
  • The drive through the city centre would also take you past the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall from where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release in February 1990.
